I guess the reason why is that I am not really an expressive person when it comes to my thoughts and feelings.

I really treasure the late night, 'Lying down on my bed' talk with the Lord. I don't have to say a word. All I have to do is to lie down and process those thoughts and feelings with the Lord, for He knows our desires and innermost feelings.

To me, it is really assuring to be reminded by the Lord that everything is going to be fine. Disappointments are so common in our everyday walk and it is really important to be constantly be assured by God as Assurance from God is a driving force that keeps me going for Him.

This is why I can truely say that the Lord is the Joy of my Desire. My Peace, My Comforter and there will never be a friend as dear to me as Him.

Psalm 131

Psalm 131
A song of ascents. Of David.

1 My heart is not proud, O LORD, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.
2 But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, put your hope in the LORD both now and forevermore.

Over the past few days, the Lord have been teaching me about being still before Him and to learn how to put all my hopes and trust simply in Him, knowing that He is God and will provide everything I need. I have many things to share, and I'll start with this verse of the Bible.

I believe David wrote this Psalm during one of the highest point of his life. Victory after victory the Lord have granted him. The Lord grant him victory over the giant Goliath, He found favour in King Saul eyes. (1 Samuel 18 : 5-6) And women came out from all towns of Israel singing "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands." It was really victory after victory for David.

But David, instead of being proud, he chose to humble himself. He knew that it was only by the strength of God, that he was able to score those victories.

David's trust in the Lord did not just happen over night. But rather, it grows slowly each times when God shows His power to him. This can be infered by the words david use in the Psalm.

David used the words 'weaned child with its mother'.

When a child is young, whenever he is hungry, he would cry and his mother will certainly come along to feed him. But when the child grows a little older (weaned child), instead of crying, the child would just ask his mother for food whenever he is hungry because over time, he began to trust that his mother would provide for him.

In David's context, over time, he learn to trust God, knowing that God will provide everything he need. David knows that without God he is nothing. That's why he chose to be stilled and humble rather than proud.

Whatever situation that we may find ourselves in, let's learn how to trust totally on God. Let's not be babies (will cry and cry and cry when in difficult situations) anymore, but instead, let us be stilled and quieten our souls before God and know that He is Lord God Almighty and that He is King over the floods and over every situation of life. Let's put our hopes in God.
